Hotel das Cataratas, A Belmond Hotel

Hotel das Cataratas, A Belmond Hotel

Imagine an early morning visit to the epic Iguacu Falls before anyone else is here, having this spectacular waterfall system to yourself. As the only hotel within the National Park, from 7am to 9am, the trails leading to the falls are open exclusively to guests at the Hotel das Cataratas, A Belmond Hotel. A privilege indeed.

Colonial opulence

The Hotel das Cataratas, A Belmond Hotel itself sits in beautiful manicured lush gardens and is a delightful building with a distinctive, hacienda-style exterior. Rooms and suites enjoy views of the surrounding forest and the falls, and are decorated in warm pastel pinks, furnished with traditionally-carved mahogany furniture, specially commissioned art and recreate the decadent Portuguese Colonial style of a bygone era.

Feast for the senses

Take a refreshing dip in the glorious pool, admire the tropical expansive grounds, or sip a cocktail in Bar Taroba as the sun sets over the falls. You will be entranced by the harmony of the surrounding natural beauty and the luxurious hotel facilities. The Cataratas Spa uses responsibly-harvested rainforest ingredients and specialises in delightfully relaxing and restorative treatments. With delicious Brazilian cuisine on offer at Ipe Grill and Itaipu Restaurant, you can feed all of your senses at Hotel das Cataratas, A Belmond Hotel.

Make enchanting memories

Experience unique adventures, like an adrenaline-fuelled speed boat ride, or a helicopter flight over the magnificent falls. Hike enchanting trails to encounter local wildlife or take a moonlight walk in search of a lunar rainbow. Make memories with a first light trek exploring the rainforest with binoculars provided. Meet rare parrots and feed the flamingos at the Bird Park, go on an exhilarating safari travelling by jeep and speedboat, or rappel down the Salto Macuca waterfall.

Whether action packed or blissfully restful, your time here at the Hotel das Cataratas, A Belmond Hotel will be uniquely stimulating and memorable.

When to travel
Brazil is a huge country meaning climate varies a lot from region to region, but in general you can visit Brazil all year round, with some considerations. As a general rule, weather is better during our winter, with the beach areas generally being a bit rainier and cooler in June and July. This is in contrast to the Pantanal, when June through to October is drier and is the best time for wildlife spotting.
How to get there
British Airways operate a daily direct route to Sao Paulo, as well as a daily direct flight to Rio during our Summer. Flight time to Sao Paulo is around 12 hours and to Rio around 12 ½ hours.
