Ceylon Tea Trails

Ceylon Tea Trails

Ceylon Tea Trails is an iconic luxury resort set in five restored tea planter houses from the colonial era. The resort sits high in the hills in the centre of Sri Lanka, bordering the Central Highlands World Heritage Site. The panoramic views over mountains and emerald tea plantations are breathtaking.

It is possible to reach Ceylon Tea Trails by road, but most guests prefer to transfer from Colombo airport by helicopter, which takes 45 minutes, or seaplane in 30 minutes.

A real colonial experience

A stay at Ceylon Tea Trails allows you to experience life as it was in colonial times. In the morning, your butler will gently wake you with Bed Tea and draw your bath. A little later, having had time for ablutions and a morning stroll, you can choose between a Sri Lankan and English breakfast. Much of the food is homegrown and herbs and teas are sourced from local estates.

Take afternoon cream tea in the exotic yet undeniably English-style garden and enjoy a four-course dinner with gourmet food, married with excellent wines. Reflect on your day in comfort, in front of a roaring open fire with your favourite tipple.

Tea experience

No visit to Ceylon Tea Trails would be complete without a tour of the plantation and tea factory. The Resident Tea Planter will guide you through the tea bushes, where you will see the tips being harvested. On to the factory, you will see how the tea leaves are converted into the black tea we know and love. The tour finishes with a tea tasting, giving you a real appreciation of this refreshing drink.

Exciting adventures

Ceylon Tea Trails is set in countryside designed for adventure. Hike or mountain bike through the hills for some spectacular views and appreciation of the local flora and fauna or raft the white water of the Kelani river.
