Tanzania Luxury Holidays

Stunning National Parks and Reserves

Home of the Serengeti, this is the quintessential wildlife spotters dream

The sheer scale of options for seeing wildlife are unbelievable

This remarkable country in East Africa is full of natural wonders. From its diverse and magnificent landscapes to its fabulous wildlife, Tanzania is truly a nature-lover’s dream destination. Indulge in one of our luxury Tanzanian safari holidays for an unparalleled experience.

Wildlife and safaris

Tanzania's main attractions are undoubtedly its nature and wildlife. In an effort to protect and preserve the country’s diverse flora and fauna, national parks and game reserves now cover nearly a quarter of its landscape, each with its own special appeal.

In the north, visit the rolling plains of the Serengeti National Park to witness the migration of wildebeest and zebra, or head to Tarangire National Park for a chance to see its large elephant herds. Admire the exquisite scenery of Lake Manyara, with its indigenous tree-climbing lions and tremendous variety of birdlife, and don’t miss the Ngorongoro Crater with its vast array of wildlife, including black rhinos, lions and leopards.

If you’re heading south, take a tour by boat or on foot to Selous Game Reserve, the largest in Africa, where you’ll find high numbers of elephants, buffalo, lions and African wild dogs across the lush landscape. Meanwhile, the wild and rugged Ruaha National Park is home to elephants, antelopes, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes and crocodiles, not to mention a staggering number of bird species.

In the west, head to the Mahale Mountains or Gombe National Parks, where you’ll find some of Africa’s last wild chimpanzees. The isolated and unadulterated wilderness of Katavi National Park is also well worth a visit.

Other highlights

Luxury holidays in Tanzania have much more to offer than just wildlife safaris. For many, Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain, is one of Tanzania’s main draws. Challenge yourself to hike the 5,896 metres to its summit while soaking up the fantastic scenery along the way, from verdant forests and sprawling meadows, to barren wilderness and gleaming ice and snow.

Dar Es Salaam is Tanzania’s largest city and its former capital. Stroll around the authentic Kariakoo Market and visit the bronze Askari Monument. Take a trip to the National Museum for a glimpse of the Tanzania of old and visit Mwenge Carvers’ Village to browse the range of handicrafts on offer.

For sun, sand and sea, make your way to the islands of Zanzibar off the country’s East Coast, or head to the glorious, golden sands of one of Tanzania’s mainland beaches such as Pangami or Bagamoyo. Visit a Maasai village to learn about one of the most famous indigenous tribes of East Africa and travel to Kolo to admire the ancient Kondoa Irangi rock paintings.
