The Musée d’Orsay has the nation’s collection of world renowned artwork spanning decades, the Louvre contains uncountable masterpieces, and at the Arc de Triomphe you can take a moment’s reflection at the Tomb of an Unknown Soldier, where an eternal flame burns in memory of the fallen soldiers of France.

A trip to Paris wouldn’t be complete without indulging in the shopping experience and visiting some of the big designer name stores that attract fashion lovers from all over the world. Wander up the Champs-Élysées to browse the clothes, perfume and jewellery shops while taking time out to sip a real French coffee at one of the many cafes along the iconic street. If you find yourself still drawn in after a day’s shopping, take in a meal then a show at one of the theatres, or simply soak up the Parisian evening atmosphere while you watch the passers-by.

The food of France

If food is your passion, Paris will not disappoint. From small patisseries and bistros tucked away up balcony lined streets with waiters who are happy to let you linger, to Michelin-starred restaurants offering exquisite dining experiences, the French have always known how to do cuisine well. For a change from eating out, pack a picnic and head to the Champs de Mars at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, or take a breath in the Jardin du Luxembourg, an inner city oasis of calm and tranquillity where you can wander among apple orchards and chestnut groves, or simply relax by the ponds. If you want to slow the pace but still see the sights, a boat trip on the Seine is a beautiful way to see the city from another angle, either by day or night.
