Elsa's Kopje Meru by Elewana

Elsa's Kopje Meru by Elewana

Perched on top of a hill in Kenya’s Meru National Park, this luxury safari lodge is a great place to base your safari holiday. Hidden away in the acacia scrub, this delightful 11-room lodge exists in symbiosis with delicate ecology around it.

Well-appointed rooms and suites

At Elawana Elsa's Kopje, the thatched roof cottages and honeymoon suites all have open sides looking out onto the swimming pool area. Rooms are tastefully decorated in earthy tones and natural materials like brick and wood, and flowing linens which exude an easy sense of luxury. Elsa’s House, the largest accommodation at the camp, is entirely self-contained and is ideal for a family stay.

Head out for safari exploration

The main attraction on safari is clearly the wildlife. Driving out every day in a 4x4 vehicle, your knowledgeable guide can help you spot a range of beasts. Elawana Elsa's Kopje is perfectly placed for face to face encounters with the Big Five (elephant, rhinoceros, lion, buffalo, and leopard). Sightings of other creatures including giraffes, hippos and gazelles are also to be expected.

Cultural visits

A nearby rhino sanctuary which was set up to reintroduce this endangered creature into Kenya is a popular option for travellers. Learn more about these magnificent animals and about the steps that are being taken to preserve them in the wild. Visits to local Masai villages are a great way to better understand the unique land you are visiting. Guided walking tours of the reserve are also popular with bird watchers. Over 400 species live in the reserve.

After a day roaming the wilds of the reserve, unwind at the pool with a cool beer or gin and tonic. Exchange tales of your adventures with other travellers. Every day is different on the reserve, who knows what encounters tomorrow will bring?
