Greystoke Mahale Camp
Situated in Mahale National Park, Western Tanzania, Greystoke Mahale provides the perfect location for a personal encounter with the local primate population. The chimpanzees of Mahale inhabit this lush, leafy forest, where expert guides can ensure you experience a wildlife encounter you will never forget. To top it all, Greystoke Mahale is located right by a pristine lake, fringed by picturesque white sand beaches.
Authentic African bandas
Accommodation at Greystoke Mahale consists of a range of authentic African thatched bandas made from dhow wood. Each has an upstairs deck, commanding magnificent views over the shimmering, tranquil lake. En-suite bathrooms are partially open, so you can breathe in deep lungfuls of the freshest forest air as you take a long, hot power shower. The resort also has communal areas for dining, drinking and unwinding, including a spacious central dining area, a well-stocked library and an open air bar.
Chimpanzees, hippos, humans and primates
There’s no doubt that the main draw at Greystoke Mahale is the mighty chimpanzee. These fascinating primates can be observed up close and personal from just a few feet away, and the resident chimp experts can interpret and explain to guests every move they make. However, there are also other animals to be seen when staying at Greystoke Mahale. The lake is home to hippos, and guests can take a trip on a traditional dhow boat, exploring the hidden depths of the waters as they kayak towards the Congo.
