I last visited the luxurious Rocco Forte Verdura in 2019, so I was excited to see what changes had been made over the past three years.
Perhaps the largest addition is twenty new villas situated around the verdant golf course. Perfect for families or large groups of friends looking for a little privacy, each comes with three or four ensuite bedrooms, a fully fitted kitchen and stunning views over the sea. Outside, guests are treated to generously sized swimming pools and ample areas to dine outdoors.
Back at the main hotel, my favourite Pool Suites are still as impressive as ever and come with their own private beach cabana. Little travellers continue to be well catered for at the inspiring kids club, which has its own pool and a range of sports academies, including a football camp run by professionals from Juventus.
The next stop on my Sicilian escape was the enchanting Villa Igiea. A historic property, each room in this 19th century Palazzo is unique, with the best benefitting from large balconies. Located in a picturesque setting overlooking the beautiful marina, guests of this romantic oasis are perfectly poised to explore the pretty streets of Palermo.
While the food and service at the onsite restaurant were exceptional, be sure to also check out the local market. Bursting with fresh fish and pasta amongst other delicious local delicacies, this vibrant street food scene is not to be missed! Although after exploring the city’s rich culinary and artistic traditions, it was heaven to simply unwind by the pool and rejuvenate my weary feet in the spa!
