The magic of new zealand
From the awe-inspiring beauty of its national parks to the warm, welcoming nature of its people, it’s not hard to see why New Zealand is such a well-loved holiday destination.
Bigger than the UK but with a population of under five million, this peaceful, picturesque country offers an alluring combination of relaxation and adventure.
Our luxury holidays in New Zealand offer truly stunning and diverse scenery. Bask in the beauty of everything from tranquil fiords, meandering rivers and sandy beaches to imposing, snow-capped mountains, magnificent volcanoes and icy glaciers. Take a helicopter flight to enjoy aerial views of the Marine Volcano, or to see the undulating Southern Alps. You can also visit the country’s natural hot springs and dramatic shooting geysers.
Reconnect with nature on your holiday with some whale and dolphin watching off the coast. Kaikoura is the perfect place to view these majestic sea creatures, and it’s possible to see them by boat, helicopter or fixed-wing aircraft. You can even take the opportunity to swim with dusky dolphins.
Famed for its delicious fresh produce, including some of the world’s finest organic foods, New Zealand is also a food lover’s paradise. Tuck into beef from the Waikato, freshly landed seafood and fruit picked in the Bay of Plenty. There are plenty of mouthwatering wines to sample too. Considered by many to produce the best ‘New World’ wines of any country, New Zealand is dotted with beautiful vineyards. The north is known for its Syrah and Bordeaux style blends, while Riesling and Pinot Noir are grown in the south.
You can immerse yourself in the rich culture of this enchanting holiday destination too. Māori traditions help to give the country a unique character. From performances of song and dance, to hangi feasts prepared in earth ovens, to sculptures made of bone, shell and stone, the Māori culture remains very much a part of New Zealand’s identity. Meanwhile, Auckland, which has been rated the third most liveable city in the world, boasts an abundance of museums and art galleries, and it has a vibrant café and restaurant scene.
The country is also a mecca for thrill-seekers. Offering windsurfing, white water rafting, mountain biking, bungee jumping, heli skiing and much more besides, it’s a popular place among those looking for an adrenaline fix.

Annual weather
The warm sunny days of summer make this an ideal time to visit, particularly for snorkelling or outdoor pursuits, but it can be harder to find accommodation.
Temperatures begin to rise and snow on the mountains starts melting, making this a fantastic time for white water rafting as the rivers are full and fast. The weather is changeable, but as most tourists are yet to arrive the roads are quiet and accommodation is easier to secure.
Winter in New Zealand can be both beautiful and challenging. While the North Island sees much rain, snow in the South Island can make mountain passes more difficult and many excursions cease to operate. It is, however, a spectacular draw for skiers and a fantastic time to see the country away from the crowds that the summer brings.
The arrival of autumn brings cooler days and quieter roads. While the weather will be more changeable, there is still a fantastic array of wildlife to be seen and the changing colours of the autumn leaves add a new dynamic. If you are happy with cooler weather then this is a great time to make the most of lower prices and fewer crowds.
