Mahua Kothi, Bandhavgarh National Park

Mahua Kothi, Bandhavgarh National Park

Mahua Kothi combines luxury with the Indian outdoors being just a step away from the home of some of the world’s most revered wildlife. This place is made particularly special by its rural beauty and the superb standards of the Mahua Kothi. Twelve traditional luxury cottages sit almost unseen inside a 45-acre private forest, skirting the edges of the Bandhavgarh National Park.

Rural elegance

Each of the twelve mud cottages, known traditionally as ‘Kutiyas’, are constructed in traditional design. Terracotta roofs shade exotic ensuite rooms, each with a large, welcoming king-sized bed that looks out over your own private courtyard. Bathrooms are spacious with large tubs and a step-down shower with a brass bucket and mug, where you can take an invigorating bucket bath.

Adventure in style

Once you’ve settled into your traditional cottage at Mahua Kothi, it’s time to venture out. Take a game drive shortly after sunrise or in the afternoons to finish at sunset. Settle into the theatre-style seating on specially-designed 4x4 vehicles and let expert naturalists guide you through the drive of your life. Bandhavgarh National Park has one of the largest collections of wild Bengal Tigers in the world and the guides will keep you on the edge of your seat as they track animals and listen for the wildlife.

For a more relaxed excursion, step out with one of our expert guides on a nature trail, listening and watching the abundance of small animals and creatures. The guide’s skilful storytelling will have you fascinated with this lush part of India.

Unique dining

After a busy day exploring the park and watching the stunning wildlife, it’s back to the homestead for an equally impressive array of gastronomic excellence. For the ultimate romantic setting, opt for the Mahua Dinner, sat by a stunning lily pond, flanked from left to right with oil lanterns. Chefs will serve you delicious food barbecued in a tandoor, describing in detail the mouth-watering recipes as they craft their creations.
