Posada del Angel

Posada del Angel

Posada Del Angel is in Antigua Guatemala, a cultural destination worth exploring. The hotel itself is intimate and elegant with a romantic garden, a small pool for gentle laps and a stunning roof terrace. Although Posada Del Angel is near the main plaza, its closed doors make it feel isolated and peaceful.

Traditional living

There are just seven rooms in the hotel each in a traditional design, with colours inspired by La Antigua traditional textiles and beds covered in Mayan textiles. Carved wood sculptures and metal ornaments add to the traditional atmosphere.

For the height of luxury stay in the Rose Suite, once home to President Bill Clinton. It has a wood floor, a wood burning fireplace and private terrace with views of three volcanoes. The Blue Room features blue Guatemalan fabrics and a wood burning fireplace.

Pasado del Angels toiletries are produced with natural local ingredients including raw honey, coconut oil, cocoa butter and essential oils. Though every room feels like going back to a past Antigua, all modern amenities are available including daily room service, television, Wi-Fi and bathrobes.

Eat Guatemalan-style

Eat traditional Guatemalan dishes including refried beans, homemade tortillas and the traditional chilli sauce of Chitepe which adds extra seasoning. At breakfast, fresh local fruit, squeezed juices and eggs are served.

Food is plated on Posada del Angel’s own exclusive dinnerware inspired by the carvings and rust colours of the nearby ruined Capuchin monastery.

Explore the local area

Posada del Angel is the ideal location to explore the local area. Antigua is a city surrounded by volcanoes and known for its Spanish colonial architecture. For more adventurous types the area is ideal for mountain biking, rock climbing and horseback riding. Shop for high-end jewellery, clothing and art.

When to travel
Guatemala is an all year round destination. Dry season runs from November to April, but even the wet season rainfall is usually no more than a couple of hours a day in the main tourist areas. Guatemala is often combined with Belize and if you are combining the two we normally advise against travel in September and October as weather in Belize can be a little more problematic.
How to get there
There are no direct flights to Guatemala from the UK so you will require a connection. British Airways partners Iberia fly from London via Madrid, while you can also use British Airways and American Airlines to connect through the US. Other routes are available via Mexico City.
