Rosyth Estate House

Rosyth Estate House

Rosyth House is an original colonial bungalow that dates from 1926. Situated within a private rubber and tea estate that stretches for over 20 acres, the property offers outstanding accommodation along with extraordinary experiences and exquisite dining. Here, guests can savour the natural beauty of rural Sri Lanka while enjoying the stunning vistas from the poolside, explore the estate, or visit a local tea factory. This secluded boutique hotel in the hills is a lovely place to stay.

Plantation style accommodation

There are four room categories at Rosyth House, from classic and deluxe rooms and suites within the main colonial bungalow to Plantation Suites and the Rock Villa. Whichever guests choose, rooms are all fashioned and furnished in classic colonial style, with rainfall showers, fine linen and air conditioning. Deluxe rooms are larger, with twin wash basins and four-poster beds, while Plantation Suites feature outdoor bathtubs on their private terrace or balcony. Rock Villa is around 150 metres from the main house and comprises the Banyan and Rock suites, which can be booked separately or together.

Culinary adventures in tea

The estate’s organic garden often provides chefs with the inspiration for the menu, which fuses local produce and flavours to create delicious dishes that reflect the location. Cookery lessons are also offered to guests staying at Rosyth House, taking the culinary adventure to a whole new level. Rosyth’s Rock Spa, meanwhile, is a peaceful retreat nestled among native trees and offers a carefully selected range of treatments that make use of Sri Lankan as well as wider Asian techniques.

One of the simplest pleasures to be had at Rosyth House is an estate walk with a knowledgeable local guide. Rosyth is a working estate, where tea is handpicked before it is sold to the tea factory. Rubber is also produced on the estate, along with other produce including fruit, spices and coconuts. Guests are welcome to explore alone or with a guide, who will lead you through the rice paddies and lush jungle.
