Son Bunyola

Son Bunyola

Son Bunyola is Sir Richard Branson’s idyllic retreat on the picturesque island of Mallorca. In the summer of 2023 the three existing villas are to be joined by a brand new boutique hotel in the restored 15th century Finca, or manor house. It stands at the heart of the 810 acre estate which is part of a World Heritage site, bordered by the majestic Tramuntana Mountains and Mediterranean Sea.

Designed by local Mallorcan interior designer, Rialto Living, the 28 luxurious bedrooms in the hotel pay homage to the historic building, using traditional skills and local materials. The two original towers have been transformed into Tower Suites, while the former olive press is now the hotel’s restaurant and the historic terrace is where you’ll find the pool. Accompanying the hotel and surrounded by ancient olive groves and fragrant citrus trees, you’ll find a trio of villas.

Sa Punta de S’Aguila stands above the coast with panoramic sea views, exposed ceiling beams and terracotta tiled floors. It boasts a private heated swimming pool and comfortably sleeps 10 adults. Son Balagueret, with its signature 13th century turret, private pool and picturesque courtyard, also sleeps 8, as does Sa Terra Rotja, with its convenient location to the tennis courts and pebble beach.

Opt for self-catering or all-inclusive but either way, the fresh bounty of the island is one of the defining delights of a stay at Son Bunyola, including fish, lamb, meats, cheeses and fresh bread. The olives and olive oil farmed on the estate shapes seasonal menus showcasing Mallorcan and Mediterranean dishes. Have your in-villa chef prepare continental breakfast, buffet lunch and three-course dinners tailored to your preferences or have the team fill your fridge with produce from the local markets if you want to cook for yourselves.

Activities and experience at Son Bunyola and beyond include spa treatments, tennis, mountain walks, golf, sailing, deep sea fishing and sight-seeing. The ‘Valley of Oranges’ and the traditional cove of Cala Deia Beach, featured in the BBC drama ‘The Night Manager’ are close by.
