The Kandy House

The Kandy House

The Kandy House is a boutique hotel set within an 1804 ancestral home. The property has been expertly restored, and offers a choice of nine beautiful guest rooms. The building overlooks a large swimming pool, and the site has endless views over the surrounding rice paddies. Kandy House makes a great retreat in which to relax, as well as a perfect base for exploring the popular destinations around Kandy, such as tea country and Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle.

Sunbeam and Red Spot Duke

Every room at Kandy House is named after a Sri Lanka species of butterfly, and thus boasts such delightful names as Red Spot Duke, Indian Admiral, Sunbeam and Monkey Puzzle. Interiors are individually styled, using elegant furniture and local fabrics alongside contemporary amenities. Ultra Rooms open directly onto a furnished veranda, and every room has the services of a personal butler. Deluxe Rooms are of a similar standard, albeit slightly smaller.

A feast of Sri Lankan flavours

Dining at Kandy House consists of freshly-prepared fare, cooked and presented in a modern fusion style. Sri Lankan specialities are combined with international flavours to create unique dishes and, around twice per week, a feast comprising ten Sri Lankan curries is served. Guests can dine on their own private terrace, by the pool or in the restaurant. By night, a selection of delicious cocktails is served at Ambalama.

Your home from home in Kandy

The aim at Kandy House is to offer guests a peaceful, luxurious home from home. Enjoy a leisurely swim in the infinity pool, or enjoy the selection of books, art materials, board games and films provided. Native butterflies and birds can be spotted flitting about their natural habitat, or borrow a bicycle and head out to explore Kandy. If you’re feeling energetic, you can play cricket with the staff, or relax by indulging in a yoga session or massage in the secluded Ambalama.
