The Turtle Inn Belize is a luxury hotel by a beautiful white sand beach. It is owned by filmmaker Francis Coppola and Eleanor Coppola, who have made it into a haven for people seeking relaxation or adventure.
Luxury thatched cottages
The hotel has 25 thatched cottages situated just a short walk from the Caribbean Sea. This sublime accommodation boasts handcrafted Balinese furniture and private decks. Seaview cottages have a Japanese bath, a private walled garden and hand carved decor. The premier accommodation is the Francis Family Pavilion, which features three bedrooms, artwork selected by the Coppolas, and the services of a full-time butler.
Seafood meets world cuisine
Dishes at the Turtle Inn feature fresh seafood and produce from the hotel's organic garden. Eat at the beachfront Gauguin Grill for charcoal grilled lobster, jumbo shrimp and snapper.
The Mare Restaurant serves Italian food and twice weekly offers a Dutch Indonesian Rijsttafel dinner. Auntie Luba's kitchen has tempting rustic style dishes such as curried chicken, coconut shrimp, home baked lime pie and food cooked over a fire pit.
Taste wines from the Franci Ford Coppola Winery’s Diamond Collection and Inglenook estate in the Wine Cellar. Drinks are served at the poolside Fish Bar or the open-air Skip Bar. It's kids only at the Kid’s Gelato Bar.
Local adventures
Activities at the Turtle Inn Belize include scuba diving, swimming, snorkelling, fishing, paddle boarding, bicycling and the thrilling zip line ride. For something a little more relaxed, you can indulge in yoga sessions, sunset cruises and visits to the organic gardens.
There is a rich local environment to explore. Visit the beautiful Nim Li Punit Maya site and Blue Creek Cave, and the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary & Jaguar Preserve has the world’s only jaguar preserve and is home to over 80 jaguars and many monkeys.

When to travel
Travel to Belize is best between January and May during the dry season, when you can expect predominantly warm, sunny days, although areas such as Placencia can expect a little rain all year round. The wet season runs from June to December, although travel is still possible up until August; as the season progresses rain gets heavier and there is a small chance of hurricanes.
How to get there
There are no direct flights to Belize from the UK so you will require a connection. British Airways and partner American Airlines offer various routes through the US. Often Belize is combined with Guatemala so flights into Guatemala with Iberia via Madrid are another option. Finally it is possible to fly into Cancun, Mexico direct with British Airways and then onward either by road or light aircraft into Belize.
