Umaid Bhawan Palace

Umaid Bhawan Palace

Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur is a fabulous example of Rajasthani architecture, and often seen as a symbol of new Jodhpur. The palace is the sixth-largest private residence on the planet, and is home to the Jodhpur royal family. Like the Taj Mahal, palm court marble was used to build the palace, and its dramatic location atop Chittar Hill, Jodhpur's highest point, only adds to the sense of drama.

A spectacular setting

This lofty setting affords guests of Umaid Bhawan Palace panoramic views over the “Blue City” as well as the majestic Mehrangarh Fort and sweeping sand dunes. The hotel also offers a convenient location as there is shopping nearby, while the airport is just a 20-minute drive away. The Kalyana and Balsamand lakes are also close at hand. Within the property lies a royal family museum, and outside, peacocks dance around the 26 acres of fertile gardens. There is also the sunken Zodiac Pool.

Maharaja style suites

This five-star heritage hotel boasts an assortment of 70 rooms and suites, decorated mainly in the prized art deco style. All rooms come with modern facilities such as housekeeping and laundry service, LCD TV and DVD, mini bar, safe and bathrooms equipped with premium toiletries, bathrobes and slippers. The largest suites offer sizeable dining and living areas as well as a spacious bedroom.

Delectable dining

While at Umaid Bhawan, you can tempt your tastebuds with the delicious Rajasthani and Indian specialties that are served at Risala restaurant, or sample Mediterranean dishes at Pillars, an open-air cafe, before relaxing at the Trophy Bar with a drink and a Cuban cigar.

Signature spa

At Umaid Bhawan’s Jiva Spa, you can enjoy signature treatments and therapies that are designed to refresh and rebalance, including a signature “Samattva” yoga treatment or a two-hour “Sushupti” ritual combining exfoliation and massage.
